CONTEXT
Assuming the universe operates on numerical frequencies and that 20 is the number of awakening, it is striking that it is exactly 20 years after the start of his formal art studies at the faculty of Cuenca that the artist Juan Sánchez materializes this publication. A trajectory that culminates between 2023, with his doctoral thesis Pintura encubierta: del cuadro a la forma autónoma (2010-2022), and 2026, with the solo exhibition Estructura: Pigmento/Aglutinante (2026), which in turn concludes with the public presentation of the book Adonde lo hice (2026).
This book, directed by Juan Sánchez (@juansanchezstudio), designed by Dídac Ballester (@didacballester_estudi) and Alma García, with editing by Gabinete de dibujos and the collaboration of ICA de Murcia (@icaregmurcia), is composed of the projects found at https://adondelohago.blogspot.com/, the archive that Sánchez has used since 2012 to organize and disseminate his artistic practice.
Accompanying this practice are texts by Silvia Ariño (@feita_xxi), José Luis Clemente (@clementejl), Ricardo Forriols (@ricardo_forriols), Manuel Garrido (@manuelgarridobarbera), Miguel Ángel Hernández Navarro (@m_a_hernandez), Mara Mira (@maramiramundo), J. B. Peiró (@jbpeiro), María Inés Quirarte León (@maraqleon), Joaquín Ruiz Espinosa (@ruizespinosa), and Toni Simó. As well as contributions—in several cases, not exclusively—visual ones from Rosana Antolí (@rosanaantoli), Johana Caplliure (@johannacaplliure), Tana Garrido (@tana_garrido_), Mar Guerrero (@marguerrerx), Kendall Glover (@kglovr), Jorge Julve (@jorgejulve), Cristina Mejías (@crismejias), Gonzalo Puch (@gonzalopuchorta), or Josefa Sánchez (@jsanchezabellan), among others.
Adonde lo hice (2026) is both a book and a gesture. It represents the organization and closure of 20 years of exploration in the field of visual arts, allowing the artist to share a journey and take stock of his practice and his life. Thus, what remains is a bodily sensation of lightness and a cleared, fertilized ground—as reflected by the very content of the book—for the growth of future works.
